62 Sm Samarium

Samarium Sublimated samarium
Samarium has some very special technical applications, e.g. in lasers and for magnets. It can easily change between the oxidation states II and III, where it has a very strong red and respectively yellow color.

Samarium sulfate
Yellow samarium sulfate, Sm2(SO4)3. Vial diameter 1 cm. Samarium sulfate is used, amongst others, for special glass. See also dysprosium sulfate.
