The Graviton
Symbol: g, G Group: boson, gauge boson Rest mass: 0 Charge: 0 Mean lifetime: stable ? Spin: 2 |
The graviton is the hypothetical particle of the weakest of all fundamental interactions, the gravitation. Gravitation is for the factor 1038 weaker than the strong interaction. But different to the other forces, it isn't spatially restricted (like electromagnetism) and always acts attracting (like the strong interaction). It also isn't insulateable and affects any kind of matter. Therefore it dominates the other forces on a large-scale level. Gravitation causes masses to attract each other. The graviton would be the probably very weak exchange particle of this force, but hasn't been discovered so far. Also, gravitation couldn't be reconciled with the other forces so far. |
