Chromium Chromium with spectrum line
Chromium is a very hard and shiny silvery metal and has many colorful compounds. A lot of these are quite toxic. Chromium(VI), e.g. as CrO3, is a very dangerous environmental toxin. Elemental chromium is widely used for plating for optical reasons and corrosion protection.
